What are medical aids?
Medical aids include visual aids, hearing aids and prostheses as well as orthopaedic and other aids and their accessories that are needed to operate the aid1. Aids help to compensate for health deficits and therefore make everyday life easier. Only aids that have a proven therapeutic benefit are paid for by the health insurance funds. These products are listed in the Aids Directory of the GKV-Spitzenverband organisation. In the field of orthopaedic aids, Sporlastic produces high-quality bandages and orthotics.
ORTHOTICS
Orthotics are medical aids that are used to stabilise, relief, immobilise, guide or correct limbs or the trunk. They protect and support the musculoskeletal system. They are more stable than bandages and in some cases have built-in mechanisms, for example for joint guidance. They are therefore able to carry out protective, guiding and in some cases supporting functions in joint traction.
Orthotics can assist with a wide range of conditions. They are generally prescribed by doctors and selected in conjunction with the orthopaedic technician. They can be used for immobilisation to assist healing if temporary immobilisation is required. In other forms, orthotics can stabilise joints or guide them in physiologically correct movements. This can also be useful for the training of affected muscle groups and therefore for strengthening them. For chronic and irreparable damage, orthotics can provide relief and support people's mobility. They can maintain functions and prevent or reduce pain. In their corrective role, they counteract deformities, malpositioning and load stress and can therefore prevent physiological malformations.
Whether it be for immobilisation, mobilisation, correction, stabilisation or relief: Sporlastic orthotics impress with excellent wearing comfort, super handling and an appealing design.
BANDAGES
Bandages are elastic fabrics or knitted materials that stabilise joints and bones in cases of joint disease or sporting injuries. Bandages can also be used preventively, for prophylaxis during sport. In this role, they have a protective effect against sprains and injuries. Whether it be to support healing or to prevent injury: Sporlastic bandages for shoulders, elbows, hands, thumbs, ankles, knees, the spine, back and trunk provide excellent support and alleviate pain. Bandages encourage mobilisation, provide security and a better body feeling. Through defined compression, they reduce swelling and bruising and support the healing process.
Sporlastic bandages offer excellent wearing comfort thanks to high-quality, breathable materials that are adapted especially to the condition involved. They absorb moisture and sweat and special zones in the flexion and extension areas ensure a pleasant feeling on the skin. They have a discreet mobility-promoting effect, act as protection and pain relief and get joints and bones moving.
