Osteoporosis - when bones lose stability and become brittle
Did you know that due to osteoporosis a bone breaks every 3 seconds worldwide?
In Germany alone about 6.3 million people are affected by osteoporosis - frightening! The disease often goes unnoticed for a long time until a bone breaks.
Osteoporosis can affect everyone, especially in advanced age. In systemic skeletal disease, the bones lose mass and density, which leads to an altered bone architecture. Bones can then break very easily, i.e. through the smallest of causes, or even without external influence.
In the case of the spinal column, vertebral bodies often sinter together (sinter fracture). This can lead to persistent back pain, loss of height, the formation of a hunchback (widow's hump) and a reduction in quality of life.
Dynamic back orthoses (e.g. VERTEBRADYN® OSTEO) ensure painless mobilization and active straightening in cases of osteoporotic spinal column problems and thus contribute to functional improvement.
To prevent and support osteoporosis, a healthy lifestyle with sufficient physical activity for strong muscles and stable bones as well as a balanced diet rich in vital substances such as calcium and vitamin D is essential for a healthy bone metabolism.
