Achillodynia - when jogging becomes a torture
Jogging in the field and the Achilles tendon hurts? The pain initially goes away, but then returns the next morning as "warm-up pain"? A feeling of stiffness appears, the tendon may be thickened and a crunching sensation when touching it? If the symptoms are familiar to you, they may be caused by achillodynia.
Excessive increase in strain during training, uneven and weakly developed foot and leg muscles as well as malpositions of the foot and leg axis can be among the triggers.
The healing process often takes between 3 - 12 months, so patience is required. The treatment options are various, continuous exercise, e.g. through eccentric training, is considered the gold standard in therapy. Furthermore, load modification, strengthening and stretching of the foot and leg muscles, physiotherapy and insole supply can positively influence the healing process.
Bandages such as the ACHILLO-HiT® have a beneficial massaging effect on the Achilles tendon and surrounding tissue and can thus have a local metabolism stimulating and relieving effect.
